The skin is the largest organ in the body absorbing everything in the environment. I’m always trying to reduce the toxins entering my body, so making my own natural products is something I’ve done for a while now.
Deodorants are something most people use every day. Sometimes even multiple times a day. Most deodorants are a toxic mess of chemicals like aluminum, chlorohydrate, parabens, and tons of other questionable ingredients.
We’ve found links between these chemicals and breast cancer, birth defects, hormonal disturbance, and damage to the central nervous system. No thanks.
My motto is if I wouldn’t eat it, I won’t put it on my skin.
The truth is anti-perspirants are blocking sweat which is an important way the body releases toxins. This homemade deodorant will not stop your sweating, but when you don’t block the bodily process you will naturally sweat less.
Here is the recipe I use:
1/3 cup coconut oil
2 tbsp shea butter (optional)
1/3 cup arrow root powder
10-15 drops essential oil of your choice
I mix a tea tree oil because its antibacterial and a grapefruit oil but you can go with your own preferences
Mix everything together (you may need to warm up the coconut oil and shea butter) and put it into a tiny glass jar.
