What I’m reading:
“The Body Keeps Score” by Bessel Van Der Kolk. I read this book a few years ago but just picked it up again recently. It’s a must read for anyone who wants to understand trauma and how it affects both the brain and the body. You could read this multiple times and get fascinating insight every time.
Music I’m loving:
Odesza- all albums. Some of their music without vocals is also great for meditation.
Quote that resonated:
“Healing is an art. It takes time, it takes practice, it takes love. -Maza Doha
Idea that’s on my mind:
I’ve been thinking a lot about intuition. I’ve found that we spend so much time being disconnected from intuition, it’s a journey to get back to it. I’m spending some time reflecting on this so I can teach it better.
Follower discovery:
Georgia Ede’s talk titled: ‘Our Descent into Madness: Modern Diets and the Global Mental Health Crisis’ [LINK]. She is a psychiatrist that teaches nutrition for mental wellness. If you’re interested in eating for your brain, you’ll like this talk.
Lesson learned this week:
I had a few days where I got into a funk. I noticed myself indulging in thoughts more than I normally do. Of course this started to make me feel apathetic and I wanted to give into unhealthy patterns. This happens to me every few months. If you change your thinking around this, you will see that this is a gift. It doesn’t mean you’re ‘failing’ or anything about ‘you’ as a person. It’s the ebb and flow of life. How you respond to those ebbs and flows is what matters.
